AI Governance Training Curriculum

01

EU AI Act Overview

Legislative structure, scope, timeline, and relationship with GDPR, product safety rules, and sector-specific regulations. Who is affected and when.

02

Risk Classification System

The four-tier risk framework: unacceptable, high, limited, and minimal risk. How to classify your AI systems and what obligations each level triggers.

03

Prohibited AI Practices

Banned AI applications: social scoring, real-time biometric identification, emotional recognition in workplaces/education, and manipulative AI techniques.

04

High-Risk AI Requirements

Compliance obligations for high-risk systems: risk management, data governance, technical documentation, human oversight, accuracy, and robustness requirements.

05

Transparency Obligations

Disclosure requirements for AI-generated content, chatbots, deepfakes, and emotion recognition. Labeling and notification obligations across risk levels.

06

AI Governance Frameworks

Building organizational AI governance: roles and responsibilities, AI inventory, impact assessments, monitoring systems, and compliance documentation.

07

Responsible AI Principles

Fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in AI development. Bias detection, explainability methods, and human-centric AI design principles.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Who needs AI governance training?

Any organization developing, deploying, or using AI systems in the EU. This includes AI developers (providers), companies using AI tools (deployers), and importers/distributors of AI products. Obligations vary by role and the risk level of the AI system.

What is the AI Act compliance timeline?

The EU AI Act entered into force in August 2024. Prohibited practices apply from February 2025. High-risk obligations and general-purpose AI rules apply from August 2025. Full enforcement for all provisions by August 2026.

How does AI risk classification work?

AI systems are classified into four levels: unacceptable risk (banned), high risk (strict requirements), limited risk (transparency obligations), and minimal risk (voluntary codes). Classification depends on the AI system's purpose and potential impact on health, safety, and fundamental rights.

How does the AI Act overlap with GDPR?

The AI Act complements GDPR rather than replacing it. AI systems processing personal data must comply with both. Key overlaps include automated decision-making (Art. 22), data protection impact assessments, transparency requirements, and the role of DPOs in AI governance.

What AI governance framework should we adopt?

We recommend ISO 42001 as the baseline AI management system, supplemented by NIST AI RMF and EU-specific requirements. Our training helps organizations build a practical framework covering AI inventory, risk assessment, monitoring, and documentation.

What are the penalties for AI Act non-compliance?

Fines range from €7.5M to €35M (or 1% to 7% of global annual turnover). Prohibited practices attract the highest fines (€35M/7%). High-risk violations: up to €15M/3%. Supplying incorrect information: up to €7.5M/1%. SMEs and startups receive proportionate penalties.
